BATON ROUGE, La. (April 20, 2007) – Layne McDaniel, President of Noesis Data, will speak at the 2007 Louisiana Society for Human Resource Management conference in Lafayette. “Making the Workplace Safer through Information: Pre-Employment Screening” will address how tight labor markets, Louisiana’s status as a “closed record state” and the perception of costs present hiring challenges for most human resource managers. The two day conference, hosted by the Louisiana Society for Human Resource Management (LASHRM), will focus on the issues, ideas, trends, challenges and opportunities currently facing HR practitioners in Louisiana.

McDaniel’s session will provide a technical review of four key coverage areas—national criminal database/Louisiana criminal database, types of background checks available, types of companies using pre-employment screening services and points to consider when selecting a screening service company. The discussion will also bring participants up to date on laws regarding consumer investigative reports and proper disposal of consumer reports.

“Pre-employment screening is an essential tool for HR managers to implement in their hiring practices,” said McDaniel. “When armed with the right knowledge, HR departments have the ability to protect fellow employees, as well as the business itself.”

McDaniel has over 20 years of experience helping both businesses and consumers solidify their financial foundations. Along with his recent appointment of chair of the Baton Rouge Area Chamber’s Small Business Council, he serves on several boards including the Financial Literacy Task Force for the Louisiana State Society of CPAs and Louisiana Association of Business and Industry (LABI). McDaniel is also a member of numerous community organizations such as the Rotary Club of Baton Rouge and the Baton Rouge Area Foundation.
